about

Gospel music has always been an important foundation of the soulful dance scene, inspiring many of the singers, producers and DJ’s that we all love. Guy Costley’s ‘Somebody Here’ continues that heritage of soulful dance music with a deeper message. Along with the 3 house mixes we have the classic mid-tempo ‘Traditional Gospel Mix’, all featured on the original 1992 release. In addition, we have 3 unreleased and never heard remixes including from Kevin Hedge of Blaze, who spent time working at the Movin’ Record Store whilst the first Blaze records were being recorded, and a rare and exclusive remix from Larry Patterson, the influential Club Zanzibar resident DJ before Tony Humphries took over, both big champions of Gospel music. This underrated release is a Movin’ Records classic which deserves your attention.

Movin' Records New Jersey

During the mid-80s and early 90s Movin’ Records defined the New Jersey sound. A skate-shop-turned-record-store run by the so- called “fairy godmother of house” Abigail Adams, Movin’s first output was ‘I’ve Got The Music’ by Boyd Jarvis in 1987, followed by music from game changers Blaze, Kerri Chandler, Tony Humphries and Smack “Jersey jams” that producers are attempting to replicate to this day. ... more
